Last night, Stevie Wonder and his band performed an incredible show to a packed house at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The band featured special guest India Arie and a quick appearance on stage from Spike Lee when the band first took the stage. The Songs In the Key of Life tour has been memorable for everyone in attendance so far and last night was no different. The band performed the entire album as well as a few covers and some other hits.
There are very few bands out there that you can go see perform live and leave feeling like a new person. The music really hits your soul and brings out so much emotion. For me, it’s really, The Nth Power, Allen Stone, and Stevie Wonder.
Stevie preached about the importance of forgiveness, being kind, and to love one another. It was a very emotional show. He did lighten the mood a few times with some playful jokes. At one point, he got up and walked to other side of the stage to a different piano. The crowd cheered and he jokingly asked “What are ya’ll clapping for?” followed by a big smile.
He also discussed the importance of musicians jamming together in EVERY genre of music. He then invited a violinist from the string section to jam with the band, proving any instrument and all genres can jam together. The complete set list is below.
