The Dave Matthews Band kicked off their summer tour last night at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, TX. For this tour, the band decided to mix things up and perform 2 sets with a mix of acoustic and electric versions of their songs. The first night, the band delivered a heavy dose of classics while mixing in some rarities, something the band has learned to nearly perfect over the years. I’ve personally seen the band live 57 times so far and I still go to shows and there are a couple songs played that I’ve never seen before. The tour started with an acoustic version of Bartender with Dave performing with his longtime friend and guitarist, Tim Reynolds. Carter Beauford (drums) joined the duo for Stay or Leave. Stefan Lessard (bass) took the stage for Take Me To Tomorrow before the horn section, Jeff Coffin (sax) and Rashawn Ross (trumpet) joined the band for the remainder of the evening. The first set saw two rarities brought back including Stolen Away on 55th & 3rd for the first time since 8/30/08 and first Minarets since 9/7/12. The complete setlist is below.
