On Tuesday night, Sister Sparrow and The Dirty Birds brought their 9 piece power house band back home to New York City at the Highline Ballroom in support of Allen Stone.  After a summer full of touring, from East to West and back, as well as stops at some of the industries biggest festivals, seeing these guys on their home turf was a welcome way to dance the night away.  Their funk/jazz/rock laden tunes, with vocals that could easily blow you away, brought the crowd to the front of the stage, and shook the floor with tune after tune designed to do exactly that.  The band delivered everything from the very funky and powerful “Freight Train” (a tune off their freshman self titled album) to a beautifully done cover of “Jealous Guy” by John Lennon.  From top to bottom, this band is full of talent and more than willing to show it off at any given moment.  Sister Sparrow and The Dirty Birds continue to tour the East Coast in support of Allen Stone.  If you haven’t had the chance to get out and see them live, do yourself a favor, grab a ticket, and dance the night away.
